I had a North Carolina bbq sauce at a restaurant and wanted to try my hand at it.  This recipe didn't disappoint - it matches the restaurant sauce.  I think Kansas city style is our family fav but this was a nice change.

This was good, had decent flavor. Wish it was a little thicker.

Another North Carolinian here - great Western NC-style Dip! Just so your readers understand, this recipe is not actually a "sauce," rather something used to "dip" BBQ in or used sparingly to help keep BBQ meats moist. There's no way this dip will ever be thicker or less vinegary... because it's a vinegar-based condiment. :) My onnnnly thing would to be careful "boiling" vinegar - not a good idea and can be potentially dangerous. (The brown sugar just needs to dissolve) Want an Eastern NC-style dip? Omit the ketchup. :) Anyway, great, simple recipe and pretty spot on! Thank you!

I made this sauce along with an other sauce. I divided my ribs using both sauces. At dinner my family liked the other sauce better.
