Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Bars

butter, softened

sugar

brown sugar

peanut butter

egg, room temperature

vanilla extract

all-purpose flour

oats

baking soda

salt

chocolate chips

ICING:

confectioners' sugar

milk

Wonderful recipe....NOT dry! I used a whole bag of Nestle semi sweet morsels though and don't over bake. The icing gave them an extra special touch and flavor....loved that!  This recipe is a KEEPER and I will be making them again! Yum!

These bars are wonderful.  I saw several ratings that they are dry and crumbly.  The key to this recipe is to under bake them.  Since baked goods tend to continue to bake after removing from the oven, I take mine out when the bars are not quite done.  They continue to bake, but stay moist.

I’ve made these a few times and they always come out perfectly and get lots of compliments. The only thing I do differently is bake a couple of minutes left. They’ve never turned out dry or crumbly, always chewy, soft, and very flavorful. Perfect easy dessert to take somewhere. Definitely in my “keep” file!

I have been making this recipe for years!  I saw in a Taste of Home magazine.  It is one of my most requested recipes.  You can use regular or mini chocolate chips.  I increase the icing to 3/4 cup powdered sugar, 3 T. Creamy peanut butter,  and 3 T. Milk.  Sometimes you have to add a little extra powdered sugar or milk.  I just spread it on.  Totally easy and delicious!

So easy and super yummy!  I got lots of compliments when I took this to a gathering. Will be making this again because it was SOOO easy!  I did mix the chips into the batter versus sprinkling them on top... I liked how they turned out that way.

Very tasty with good flavor and texture with the oats. I didn't do the icing and still enjoyed these.

These were good and easy to put together.  I needed to thin the icing a bit with milk  to make it drizzle nicely.

Dry, crumbly and bleh. Very disappointed. :(

I've made these twice and plan on making them again.  These are really delicious and super easy. I took an extended lunch break so I could bring to work for a an afternoon snack and they were a huge hit!  I mixed dark chocolate chips in with the batter and no glaze.  Used super chunky peanut butter too.    Super good flavor.

Good and easy. I didn't read recipe through and added chips to batter. However it turned out okay. I loosened up frosting a bit with cream as it didn't really drizzle. Thanks for this recipe.

I had company over and needed a quick and easy snack.  These were great!!!  The only problem was that they disappeared too quickly.  I will definitely make this again.

These were absolutely delicious! My brothers both said they could've eaten the entire pan! Very easy to make too!

I loved this so much! They were a big hit with my friends. I am not much of a peanut butter person, but these were amazing! Especially since it was mixed with the chocolate. The only thing I would change was the icing. It was a bit too thick to "drizzle", so maybe add a little more milk? But it still tasted just as delicious!

Then family loved these--they were gone in no time! Easy to make too!

Will probably comment again after they're out of the oven!  Just wanted to comment that I doubled the recipe and am baking them in a jelly roll pan.  I'm not going to ice them, and I mixed the chocolate chips in with my flour mixture and added them all together.  My grandmother always did that, saying that the flour coated the chips, helping them to distribute evenly throughout the dough!  More after their baked!  They smell heavenly!

These sounded really good but turned out really dry. What could I do to make them moist.

I always make these exactly as the recipe states, but sometimes use chunky peanut and sometimes use creamy. Also, I sometimes use old fashioned oats. Always delicious and get rave reviews. This is my go to recipe when I want a quick, impressive cookie to share. Thank you for this recipe that makes me look like an awesome baker!

These are absolutely delicious! I made them for my bible study group and they were a hit! They are so easy to whip up and require such common household ingredients.  A great last minute dessert solution!

I always sub something for the sugar.  Applesauce is good, or make your own cranberry sauce and the like.  Works for me.
