Step 1

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Step 2

In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter.

Step 3

Add onions and cook until starting to soften, about 4 minutes. Add garlic and cook 1 minute more.

Step 4

Increase heat to medium-high and stir in orzo. Toast until orzo is deeply golden, stirring frequently, about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Stir in rice and cook 1 minute more. Transfer to a 1.5 quart baking dish with a lid.

Step 6

Pour 1 cup of the broth over rice and orzo, season with salt and pepper, and stir. Cover dish and bake 25 minutes.

Step 7

Uncover, add remaining broth, cover and bake until rice is tender, about 35 minutes more.

Step 8

Fluff with fork, adjust seasoning as needed and serve. Enjoy!
