Step 1
Prepare 3 bowls large enough to fit a chicken drumstick in. In the first bowl mix together the flour with the salt and black pepper (Note 1). In the second bowl add the beaten egg. In the third bowl add the panko breadcrumbs.
Step 2
Coat the chicken drumstick in the flour mixture, then in the beaten egg and finally in the panko crumbs. Coat the chicken in as much of the panko as possible, press extra panko into the chicken if required. (Note 2)
Step 3
Repeat Step 2 until all chicken drumsticks are crumbed .
Step 4
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F/200°C.
Step 5
Line the chicken drumsticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Step 6
Cook for 20-25 minutes, until chicken is cooked through and the outside is golden brown and crispy.
Step 7
Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before seasoning with a bit more salt and/or serving with your favorite dipping sauce.
