Step 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the tortellini and cook according to the package directions, until al dente.

While the tortellini is cooking, make the pesto sauce. In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, garlic, Parmesan cheese, and pine nuts. Pulse until everything is finely chopped.
Step 3
With the food processor running, slowly pour in the olive oil until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 4
Drain the cooked tortellini and add it to a large serving bowl. Pour the pesto sauce over the tortellini and toss to combine.
Step 5
Serve hot, garnished with extra Parmesan cheese and chopped basil leaves, if desired.
