Ingredients: 1 cup white vinegar; 1/2 cup water; 1/4 cup white sugar; 1/8 teaspoon salt; 1 tablespoon pickling spices; 1 medium onion, sliced; 1 lb ring bologna, cut into 2-3-inch pieces

Originally exported from MasterCook.  Not hot, but just your basic recipe.  Of course, you can spice it up a bit by adding your favorite &quot;hot&quot; stuff.

Pickled Bologna

white vinegar

water

white sugar

salt

pickling spices

onion,

lb ring bologna,

Mix together first 6 ingredients and boil for 8 minutes; cool.  Put bologna and onions in large glass jar.  Pour vinegar mixture over bologna.  Refrigerate overnight before serving.  Store in refrigerator.

My 88-yeqr-old father and I love pickled (especially sweet-sour) foods, so this is a great choice! I love the balance of vinegar, water, sugar, and pickling spice. Although I like bologna I LOVE wieners (I use inexpensive ones and cut them into thirds or fourths). I also add some red-pepper flakes for a little more heat. I always use two thinly sliced sweet onions, which make a delicious condiment for sandwiches or appetizers. This may sound odd, but I grilled a piece of pickled wiener and thought that I would order a grilled pickled wiener if I could find a restaurant that serves them!
