Step 1

Stir the water and sugar in a large saucepan over low heat until sugar dissolves. Add the wine, saffron and lemon rind. Increase heat to medium-high. Bring to the boil. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Add the pear. Cover the surface with a sheet of non-stick baking paper. Reduce heat to low. Cook for 20-30 minutes or until pear is tender. Set aside to cool to room temperature.

Step 3

Divide the pear mixture among serving bowls. Serve with mascarpone and biscuits.
