Warm flavors like sage and cinnamon play up the contrast between the juicy pork chops and caramelized apples. Tart Granny Smiths and slightly sweeter Braeburn apples both work well for this dish.

Pork Loin Chops with Cinnamon Apples

sage

salt

black pepper

(4-ounce) boneless center-cut loin pork chops (about 1/2 inch thick)

vegetable oil

Cooking spray

butter

(1/2-inch) slices peeled Granny Smith apples (about 4 medium)

brown sugar

lemon juice

cinnamon

Combine first 3 ingredients, and sprinkle over the pork. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Add pork; cook 3 minutes on each side or until done. Remove the pork from pan. Cover and keep warm.


Melt butter in pan over medium heat. Add apples and remaining ingredients, and cook 5 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently. Serve the apples with pork.


This was an ok dish.  I thought it lacked a bit of flavor.  

Easy to make for a weeknight meal. Served with roasted potatoes and french beans.

Pretty good and easy to make - I grilled the pork.  DD wasn't a big fan and thought the meat was bland.  I served it with mashed potatoes.
*************Update:  Ok - I made it again and now it is 4 stars.  It helps to use fresh dried sage.  :-)

Just made this tonight because I wanted something quick and it came out amazing. 

I didn't do it exactly to the letter because I just used what I had on hand, but it was great.

Changes:
-No sage. Used half oregano and half parlsey instead.
-No chops. Used pork rib meat cut into 1 inch sections. 
-Used extra virgin olive oil instead of vegetable oil.
-No lemon juice. Omitted completely.
-Only had 1 apple on hand so that is what I used. Did not peel the apple. 

I will definitely be using this recipe again!

This was excellent...and pretty quick too.  I would second another review and make more of the sauce for the apples and try to put it over the pork, but it was very good!

Delicious, easy.  Will do again.  Used a gala apple, but I think the Granny Smith would hold up better to frying.

Such a quick and easy weeknight recipe, especially if you peel and slice the apples ahead of time! I varied the spices in the rub on the pork chop and used rosemary and thyme with the salt and pepper, which was really good, too! Instead of the pasta, I served it with cauliflower "mashed potatoes" with sour cream, chives, and parmesan cheese -- a nice way to sneak in vegetables! This recipe is a repeater in our house!

This was delicious and very easy.  Prepared as listed.  The apples are great.  A definite repeat.

I did not use Granny Smiths, but instead Fugis.  I think Granny Smiths would add some more complexity, but a good recipe all around. Paired it with a sour cream and chive mashed potatoes.  Quick and easy to make.

I took a shortcut and used Apple pie filling instead of fresh apples.  Not as healthy, but everyone Loved it!  We will have this one again!  And it was really easy for a weeknight meal.

Delicious.  I took the other reviewers' advice and increased the time for browning the pork chops, and for browning the apples, and everything came out great.  My husband loved it.  Will definitely save the recipe in my box and make it again.

This was a solid recipe. I wouldn't rave about it though. I used the Granny Smith apples, so it was slightly tart. If I make again, I will try the Braeburn apples. Roasted sweet potatoes and broccolie made great sides.

I've been making a similar dish for 20+ years but never added the sage until now. I did follow my own cooking steps, which is to sear the chops in a skillet then transfer them to a baking dish and cover with the sliced apples, add 1/2 cup of apple juice or cider and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar. Cover the baking dish - glass lid or foil, either one - and bake for 30-40 minutes until the pork chops are done. Depending on the chops, sometimes they'll literally fall off the bone. This main dish cooks in the oven while the sides finish on top. We seemed always to lean towards fresh green beans and real mashed potatoes.
Very easy, very good, and such a pity that none of my three kids cares for it. Never could figure that out; they're not fussy eaters and like most everything else I do...

This is my favorite pork chop recipe.  I made it when I had company over, and everyone raved about how delicious it was.  I will make many more times.

Really love this recipe.  Made it for the 2nd time last night.  I'm not often a fan of cooking pork chops in a pan (end up going back to shake-n-bake time and time again), but for some reason this recipe has changed my mind.  So flavorful!  Also served with baked sweet potato which complimented the flavors nicely.

Very flavorful and tasty. I'm going to make more apple sauce next time to spoon on top of the chops.

This was a nice comforting recipe.  It reminded me of something that my mom would have made when I was a kid.  I wouldn't serve this to company, but it makes a simple weeknight meal.  My kids enjoyed it -- especially the apples. I served the pork and apples with brown rice and steamed peas.

this recipe was very easy to follow and to put together, and delicious. i made 6 1/4 inch thick chops instead of 4 of the 1/2 inch thick 4 oz chops and it turned out really well.  i also made this with Braeburn apples because i really don't like granny smith, and it wasn't too sweet. i served with homemade mashed potatoes and a side salad. this would be great also with a side of green beans almondine.

This is a fabulous recipe.  It is very easy, fast, tastes delicious.  Guests or family will never know how easy it was to make.  Impress everybody.

With so many wonderful recipes there are not many I bother repeating, but this has become one of my go-to weeknight meals. So easy and everyone loves it! Serve with some bread of (godforbid) some stove-top and you've got a super fast and tasty meal.

The sage rub made the pork chops exceptionally tasty with very little effort.  The apples are equally easy to make and create a special dish from a quick cooking recipe.  I served with the suggested egg noodles (w butter and parsley) and steamed broccoli.

This recipe was good but both the pork and apples took much longer than stated.  I used fresh sage and honeycrisp apples.  Served with recommended poppyseed noodles and peas.  I most likely would not make this again only because there are quicker and easier pork chop recipes that I've enjoyed more.

I am giving this recipe four stars because while it is excellent, it isn't company worthy. Great for weeknight meals at home with family. Does great with both pork chops or chicken breasts/thighs. Quick and easy, tastes amazing.

I am a mediocre cook- this was fast and easy- my husband who usually cooks was blown away by the flavor and presentation!!  I served it with frsh mashed potatoes and green beans.  The leftovers were even better!

This is an easy recipe to make, although peeling the apples is a bit time-consuming. It took me less than 45 minutes to make, which makes it a winner for a weeknight. Everyone in the house enjoyed it.

This was a good solid recipe.  I used thicker than stated pork chops, so cook time was a little longer.  The apples were very good!  I felt like they needed something in the end, so added a touch more sugar and a shot of bourbon.  Perfect!  Served Pork and apples with roasted fingerling potatoes and warm pumpernickel bread.

Easy and great tasting for something a little different!

The pork took longer than 3 minutes on each side (after 6 minutes it was still pink around the edges), and the apples took about 10 minutes to get tender not 5 minutes. Overall the food was great and my family really liked it. We will definately cook again keeping a note that the cook times should be doubled.

I made this for my husband and I with a baked sweet potato. Halfway through, he looked at me and said "When are we having this again?!" The only thing that was difficult was finding a 4-pack of approx 4 oz chops.

I made this recipe for my parents and picky younger brother, and they all enjoyed it a lot!! Prepping is easy, and this recipe is sure to please even the pickiest eaters!!

My husband and I love this one.  I did not have plain sage so used poultry seasoning.  I used thin spaghetti noodles with zucchini and diced tomatoes for the side dish. Tossed with low cal dressing.  Hubby came in and had to taste pork while I was doing the apples, he said he smelled so good.  I am doing this again now.  Great.

My Son has never liked pork chops and at 26 yrs is now asking for Pork Chops with Cinnamon Apples. My Children have asked to have this for Thanksgiving dinner. This is so easy to make and sooo delicious, I recommend this to recipe to all.
