Quick Cherry Turnovers

tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls

cherry pie filling

confectioners' sugar

milk

I thought this was a great quick and easy recipe. I followed it as is except I used fresh fruit instead of cherry pie filling and I thought that they could be cooked a little longer just to make it crispier. It would also be good (if you are using fresh fruit like me) to toss the fruit in some granulated sugar since the dough is a little salty

I made these and they were just alright, sort of plain. Now I'l share what I did the second time around and they were much tastier and still easy!  I made the cherry ones again but sprinkled in some cinnamon into the filling for a boost of flavor. I used water to seal the seams of the dough. Egg works well also. For the glaze I used a bit more powdered sugar so it will drizzle but will be a bit thicker and I added a couple drops of vanilla extract and a couple drops of lemon extract to it.  These simple changes brought these from MEH to YUMMY and it was simple.  When you get compliments you know that you did something right!

I used reduced fat crescent rolls and no sugar added cherry pie filling.  I also used almond extract in the frosting.  Lovely and easy dessert.

This was very simple to make.   I used parchment paper on the cookie sheet.  I brushed the top of the turnovers with light cream and sprinkled each one with about one tablespoonful of organic sugar.  I served them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  Yummy!!  My husband loved it!

I made these for Thanksgiving breakfast. Everyone loved them!

Terrible. Definitely follow posters' advice to bump up flavors with extracts and maybe fresh fruit and/or cream cheese. It was unbelievably bland, and the dough didn't crisp up much, maybe due to being overstuffed. Tossed them in the trash. Better probably to make more smaller turnovers with the changes, but I think I'll stick with traditional pie dough if I do this again.

Obviously it was apparent I did not have the magic touch when it comes to this recipe since I am the exception to the rule. I used low-fat crescent rolls to try to keep calories and cholesterol down. No matter how hard I tried the perforations would not stay together. In addition the flling continued to ooze out. The finished product looks terrible and I was tempted to throw them away. I thought I should give the recipe the benefit of  the doubt and eat at least one before they get tossed. Definitely I will be making another dessert for this evening as I'm having company and these would not be presentable to serve. I use TOH recipes all the time and seldom have a failure. I'm glad this works for others. However, it won't be in my regular rotation of desserts!

Easy to cut calories by using sugar free cherry pie filling and Pillsbury Light Crescents. If you are dieting this will make you feel like your cheating!

Very good and simple. I used apple pie filling and they were a hit!

These were really easy to make, but were really okay. I found it tough to make them as perfect looking as the picture, and the cherry filling burst out of the sides of mine. Definitely could've been a users mistake though! They tasted alright, but were nothing special.

This is a very quick, and easy standby for Sunday morning, and even for a quick dessert when you have unexpected guests drop by. Other fruit pie fillings are just as good!
