Ingredients: 4 slices bacon; 1 head romaine lettuce, cut into strips (6 cups); 1 cup grape tomatoes, halved; 4 scallions, sliced; 4 to 6 tablespoons Creamy Parmesan Dressing; or bottled Caesar dressing

In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp, 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Break into pieces when cool.


In a large bowl, toss the lettuce, tomatoes, scallions, and bacon with the dressing.

I agree that the comments are ridiculous.  Please don't post comments that have nothing to do with the recipe.  It's delicious.

This salad/dressing was exceptional! I normally don't change any recipes the first try, however the dressing was very thick so I added probably 1/2 cup of whole milk. The dressing recipe will join my top 2 other favorites as real keepers. We also used the "tip' and made croutons for the salad. We served it with pan seared/oven finished chicken breasts........great supper!
BTW......fanatics/extremists only progress when given the negative attention they so desire.......ignore them and they will go away;)

The salad sounds great, I think I will give it a try for Sunday dinner. And SarahBth i promise to not use pigs that have been fed hormones and romaine and tomatoes that only gets well water and no pesticides and organic whatever...cuz I raise my own meat and veggies. Like the others said if you dont like a recipe dont make but leave the preachin to the preacher.

Pigs,cows,Muslims,chickens...what kind of comments on a simple recipe?  The salad recipe was great Real Simple. Maybe someone could start a Vegan recipe site for those who desire it. 

seriously, these are the most inane comments to a recipe I have ever seen!!! Do you really think this is the place for your no eggs, no bacon, free the world ideals?? It's a recipe - get a clue and a life.

I like this salad but that's my choice. You're lucky to have a choice of what and how you eat. It is projected that over 25 million people in the world will starve to death in 2010. I suspect most of them wouldn't really care how their food was processed but they aren't allowed that choice. If you're so unhappy with what this magazine publishes then do the adult thing and stop reading it.

This salad does sound great, and very easy. I'll make it for our Fourth of July BBQ. I'm sure there is some kind of "soy bacon" for those who prefer non meat.
