The taste was very good.  I could hardly get it out of the mold even tho  I wiped veg oil on inside, & let it sit in hot water abt 10 secs.  When it finally came out it was soft, even tho  it was in refrigerator overnight.  I think the recipe called for too much sherbet...maybe make it with at least one less cup sherbet.  Probably  won't make it again.

I made this & it was good, but the next time I put in an 8 oz. cream cheese, a can of crushed pineapple & 8 oz. of whipped cream instead of the frozen whipped topping.  It went from good to great & it was totally gone when the meal was over.

This is a great retro recipe. I had not made this in years and don't even remember what recipe I originally used. I used to make this type of dish for big family gatherings. When I saw this recipe, I was excited to make it once again. It tasted just as I remembered it. It's nice, cool, and creamy and  tastes really good.

My mom made something similar when I was growing up.  She would use orange jello and mandarin oranges with vanilla ice cream instead of lime; no Cool Whip.  This is also good with strawberry jello and fresh strawberries or fruit cocktail.  Any jello-fruit combo is great if using the basics of the recipe.

I made this with orange Jello, orange sherbet and Cool Whip. I put it in the fridge for 24 hours but it didn't set well at all. Like another reviewer, mine became a blob on the plate, but it tasted really good! I argued with my mom about using Jello vs. gelatin. Was I supposed to use gelatin or could I use Jello for this recipe? I told my mom that gelatin doesn't come in flavors, she had a box of unflavored gelatin and said that was what I should have used but I told her that Jello would be fine and that Jello is flavored. Please someone answer me so that I can settle this disagreement with my mom. Overall, it tasted great but I wouldn't make it again unless I knew it would stay in mold shape.

I tested this for mother’s day...it was a nice side ! I plan to serve it for my daughters bridal shower. Cool, creamy, nice tang of lime!

My Southern great Aunt made this with her way. Dissolved the jello as written but used vanilla ice cream I instead of Cool Whip. She also added well drained fruit cocktail to the mix.  Yummy without nasty processed “whip cream”. I have made this with peach jello and peaches with chopped pecans.

His was terrible!  It was too sweet and didn’t set up very well. After 10 min out of the mold and fridge, it started to spread and turn to a thick liquid. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

This recipe was easy and oh so good! Big hit. I will be making this for years to come!

The name of this recipe should really say "SUPER Lime Jello Salad!"  In a fit and flurry preparing for Thanksgiving, I realized I didn't have the token Jello offering for the table.  I picked this one because it was easy and I had everything for it.  I used rainbow sherbert but no matter.  Do not despise recipes that look easy, right?  My friends LOVED it and so did I.  I even tried a version with mango and orange jello.  Nothing left.  I'll be saving this one for the future in my trusted recipe file.  You go, Cyndi! I make this but in several different flavors and use freshly beaten heavy cream because I just have never liked whipped topping. The 3 stars is for the whipped topping. I have a similar recipe that my Grandmother made many times, It calls for 1 box each of lime and lemon Jell-O, 1 small can of crushed pineapple, drained and 2 cups of cottage cheese. Mix it all together and put in a 9x9 square dish and refrigerate till set.

We love jello salads, so please keep them coming! This one is sooo good! I added nuts and marshmellows (small ones) to this. Yummy!

I love the flavor of lime so I was excited to try this recipe.  My family liked it, but they felt something was missing.  The next time I make it, I'll try adding a can of crushed pineapple to the mixture.

This is really good. I stirred in a half bag of mini marshmallows and a dash of salt as well and put it in a jello mold to set overnight. Next time I will add the whole bag of marshmallows to the mixture after it sets up a little in the fridge and then divide it between 2 jello molds.

I have not made this yet, however my Mom did and it was excellent! I had to have the recipe so I can make it too!!  (The only thing she did different is to use sugar-free gelatin and sugar-free whipped topping since we both need to watch our sugar.)

To mem2094, Jello gelatin is correct but you must be sure to fully dissolve in hot water before adding anything else or it won't set correctly.  This old time recipe is a classic and brings back good memories and mishaps too.  Love it.

Very light smooth and creamy! I really liked it. I didn't use a mold. I just put it in a bowl and we dipped it out.

Quick & easy, and there are myriad ways to vary... raspberry gelatin & frozen raspberries are a nice tweak!

Very tasty - love that it is easy to make & comes together quickly. A great side dish for any holiday meal.  Next time I will try it with orange gelatin and sherbet & will add mandarin oranges.

Great recipe!  This was quick and easy to assemble and oh, so good!  The possibilities and variations with this recipe are endless!  I wasn't able to find lime sherbet so I used orange Jell-O and orange sherbet and folded in mandarin oranges.  My family often request me to make this salad for "special occasion' dinners; it has become a family favorite.

Always a hit wherever I take it -- been making for YEARS!  Try adding a can of crushed pineapple (instead of sherbet -- I might try both together though) and you do not need to worry about draining.  Also, can add some mini-marshmallows -- be creative.
