This simple whole chicken recipe is great served as is with crusty bread or over rice, but it&rsquo;s also a great way to cook chicken ahead of time to use in a variety of dishes, such as chicken salad, soups, and casseroles.

Simple Slow Cooker Whole Chicken

If applicable, remove neck and giblets from chicken; discard or reserve for another use. Sprinkle inside and outside of chicken with salt and pepper. Place chicken in slow cooker; cover and cook on LOW 4 hours. Remove and discard chicken skin and bones, and serve chicken with accumulated juices, or store meat and juices separately in airtight containers in refrigerator for future use.


I have not made this but in reading the recipe .  . . . I find it hard to believe that a four pound chicken can be cooked in a slow cooker, on low, for four hours.    I think that may be a mistake.
