In a heavy skillet, heat the oil on medium high heat. Add the onions and saute for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

Add the cumin, coriander and cayenne and stir for a minute to gently toast the spices.

Add the tomatoes, stir well, cover, and simmer until onions are soft, about 5 minutes.

Add the black beans and simmer until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
