This recipe is already a family staple. I wouldn't change a thing. It amazing how many people's comments got off-topic. If you have never had a recipe, don't comment on it. If you think it's not a healthy  recipe, don't comment on it. No one needs your advice on how to eat.  As many have said, this is a treat. Not an every day dish. EVERYTHING in moderation. Yes. I WOULD give it to my kids.  Food is to enjoyed. Not feared.

I've always wanted to make mac n cheese from scratch instead of from a box.  I came across this recipe and it was great!  The cheese sauce was nice and smooth and everyone enjoyed it.  Will make again!

I have tried many mac and cheese recipes, and this was the best and creamiest so far. I used regular milk instead of half and half, a 1/2 lb. Velveeta, and added 1/2 tsp each of garlic and onion powders. It was SO easy, quick, and it reheats much better than other mac and cheese recipes I've tried, probably due to the Velveeta. I topped it with fresh parsley and crumbled bacon. This will be my new go-to mac and cheese recipe!

The food police are at it again!! This is mac & cheese...yes it has fat and sodium, but either tailor it to your needs or bypass the recipe. We are not illiterate and can read the nutritional info ourselves! You should stick to the "HEALTHY" section for recipes if this bothers you so much! Tasty, creamy, quick option for the rest of us.

I've been on the hunt for the perfect macaroni and cheese recipe since I was 11 years old and my best friend's mom made it from scratch. As much as I love natural cheese, I don't know how you get a creamy texture without Velveeta.  This recipe is my go-to. I agree with Nicole; a bit of onion powder and garlic powder do good things for this recipe. I like to add cooked broccoli, chopped green onions and tuna.

to all the critics out there i say 1 thing. my physician said if i want mac and cheese, make it home made, dont use a box. its much healthier for you. last time i looked all cheese is high in fat and salt, but it is also a dairy product and is good for you soooo. welcome to life... take the good with the bad. homemade is the BEST for you. i personally love cheese, and everything that is made with it.

the way i found to make this great for my personal tastebuds is make according to recipe adding a touch of pepper and garlic salt, then pour into a casserole dish and sprinkle top with 1/2 to 1 cup of shredded cheddar on top, then sprinkle top with bread crumbs mixed with melted butter. then bake at 350 f. till cheese melts :P Mmmmm

This was wonderful made exactly according to the recipe.  All you people whining about the unhealthy ingredients - it's MAC & CHEESE, what did you expect?

Very good, I used shredded cheese not velveeta though.  It was delicious.

So easy... and sooooo cheesy! I sprinkled the top with some Panko bread crumbs and popped the skillet under the broiler for a minute just before serving. Huge hit with my family.

I don't usually carry 1/2 and 1/2, so I substituted with Evap Milk and it was great! The kids loved it!

I also used a pan I cooked bacon in to make this dish.  I am surprised it didn't call for any seasonings at all.  I just cannot make something without using at least salt and pepper so I added a tad pit of salt because the bacon is salty and some black pepper and a dash of cayenne pepper as well.  With the addition of the bacon, it was a hit.

I made the recipe as written except we put another quarter cup of cheese in it because it looked like it need to be cheesier. Also we used a skillet that we had just cooked bacon in and had poured the grease off so there was residual bacon grease and a little bit of matter so it did give a little ‘oomph’ on that flavor. My husband really liked the dish, though he was incredulous on using a Velveeta-type product.  I grew up with it so I knew it would be great and it was.

This is the recipe my mom used at least twice a week when I was growing up.  She (and I today) use 2% or skim milk.  I think it makes it A LOT healthier than half-and-half.  Other than that little change, this has been and will always be my go-to-mac-&-cheese

Followed the recipe exactly and it was FANTASTIC! Easy to make, and it is sooooo much better than the boxed stuff!!! I'lll be adding this to my permanent "Keep" collection!!!

My family is spoiled by mac and cheese.  They won't eat boxed mac and cheese again.  This is so easy to make I don't mind making it often.
