Step 1
Place the finely chopped apples in a slow cooker.

In a medium bowl, mix the cinnamon, cloves, salt, and sugar.

Pour the mixture into the slow cooker. Mix well with apples.

Cover everything and cook on high for an hour.

Reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to cook for 9 to 11 hours.

Stir the mixture occasionally until it's dark brown and thick.

Uncover and continue to cook on low for an hour.

Continue stirring using a whisk to enhance smoothness.

Spoon the mixture to check for doneness.

Once cooked, transfer the apple butter to a sterile jar, cover, then store in the fridge or freezer.
