Step 1
Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Add the onion, then pour into the bottom of a slow cooker/Crockpot.

Mix in the brown sugar and barbecue sauce. Stir well.

Add the molasses and seasonings. Stir well.
Step 4
Add the beans and gently fold to incorporate.

Stir in the jalapeño.

Scatter half of the bacon across the top.

Cook on high for 2 ½ hours or low for 4 hours.
