Step 1
Set the oven to 325°F (163°C) and position the rack in the center. Grease an 8-by-8-inch square baking pan with butter and set aside.

In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set the mixture aside.

In a medium saucepan set over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, butter, and milk. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil, then immediately remove it from the heat. Add 1½ cups of the milk chocolate morsels and stir until completely melted and smooth.

Stir the eggs and vanilla extract into the chocolate mixture until fully blended and glossy in texture.
Step 5
Gradually add the flour mixture to the chocolate base, stirring gently just until the ingredients are incorporated. Avoid overmixing.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of milk chocolate morsels over the surface.
Step 7
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through for even baking. The brownies are done when the edges are firm and the center appears set.
Step 8
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack. Once cooled, slice into 6 large squares. Serve as is or top with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce if desired.
