Step 1

Heat a heavy sauce pan on medium heat

Step 2

Add butter, melt but don't brown it

Step 3

Add flour and whisk for 1 minute until thickened

Step 4

Add chicken broth, garlic powder, onion powder and salt and whisk until smooth

Step 5

Let it come to a boil and whisk it as it thickens.  (About 5 minutes)

Step 6

Take off heat and let cool for 5 minutes

Step 7

Add sour cream and stir it in

Step 8

Put pan back on low heat and add cheese and stir until melted

Step 9

Add 1/2 cup or less of chicken broth to thin the sour cream sauce to your liking

Step 10

Ladle on enchiladas or dish of your choice
