I liked this recipe a lot, but thought 1 tsp was maybe a little too much cloves.

I made the recipe to a tee and both my husband and I thought it was very plain.  It was moist which is good but it wasn't near as good as other pear breads I have had in the past.  It seemed to be lacking in taste.  We had other people over when we had it and they really liked it but it isn't something I will make again.

Moist, easy quickbread, but cloves were too heavy for my husband.  Next time I'd use less, or maybe try the suggestion to substitute pumpkin pie spice.  Also next time I think I'll add some toasted nuts, perhaps pecans.  My son (9) liked it as is.

This was a good way to use up some pears I had from my tree.  I like that it is not overly sweet, and is a light texture.  I may bump up the cinnamon a tad the next time.  A great fall recipe

I have cooking class that I do with our residents at our nursing home and they had never ever heard of Pear Bread . We did use fresh pears instead of canned. The bread was amazing!

My husband says it's his new favorite. We had a lot of fresh pears so I used those instead of canned pears as well as an extra pear instead of the applesauce and its delicious! Moist and yummy!

This is good (I like cloves) but for those of you who don't--try the Fresh Pear Bread from Quick Cooking Sept-99, page 46.  It is the best pear bread ever.

My husband and I both really liked this.  I used pears canned with splenda and then in the bread I used 1/2 splenda and 1/2 sugar.  I will make this recipe again but replace half of the gloves with nutmeg.

I made this bread last week to send to a friend of mine and it is fantastic!!! The combination of the pears and spices made a delightful bread.

This is farandaway the best tasting spiced pear bread recipe I have come across in my life.  But, I must emphasize the recipe ingredients and NOT the baking directions.  As I got close to readying the pans  (I prep and measure first), I knew something was wrong.  A medium-mini sized loaf pan does not require 50-60 minutes to bake.  Furthermore, this recipe would not fit into 4 pan of that size.  I filled two 8.5" pans a bit more than half full and the loaves crested over the top of the pans.  It took ~27 minutes for them to test done.  The tops look kind of "rustic" but they are delicious!  In my thought process, I thought OK they used fresh pears, yet recipe calls for 3 cans (15.25 oz each)--so not fresh poached pears.  Anyway, wonderful recipe.  Thank you, Rachel!If I could, I'd give it more than 5 stars.

excellent recipe.  Made for craft fair and sold out quickly.  I will make again for next craft fair

I made this bread with fresh ripe pears.Cannot tell you how much I uses, I just used what I had and estimated about how much was 3 cans worth. I also used 5 pans and they baked up nicely. Next time I will add some kind of nuts.

Used 1/4 tsp nutmeg in place of the cloves...made 24 muffins baked for 30 min...delicious

Made this and was my husband ever grateful for the great recipe.  Made mini loafs and he ate two coming out of the oven.  Will add raisins and nuts next time, but I love leaving the pears a bit chunky so will stick with mashing.  The cloves are a bit strong, which I like, but if I was making it for someone else, I might cut down, or just substitute pumpkin pie spice for the cinnamon and cloves.

I rated this a 5 not because I thought it was a five, but I made it Saturday and by Monday evening my family had devoured it! Will make again.

I'm always looking for new ways to use my homegrown pears, so I decided to give this recipe a try. I'm so glad I did! I made one 8x4-inch loaf and three 5x3-inch loaves, adjusting the baking time accordingly. My husband and I thought the bread was delicious and I will definitely make it again!

These made great gifts for my family this Thanksgiving! The aroma during baking was wonderful! I used 3 cups all-purpose flour and 1/4 cup whole wheat flour as well as 1 cup Splenda instead of sugar.
