Ingredients: 3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon soft dark brown sugar; 2 tablespoons dark corn syrup; 3/4 stick unsalted butter; 2/3 cup heavy cream; Serving suggestion: Vanilla ice cream

Sticky Toffee Sauce

dark brown sugar

corn syrup

unsalted butter

heavy cream

Serving suggestion: Vanilla ice cream

Put the sugar, syrup and butter in a pan and slowly bring to the boil, allowing the butter to melt and the sugar to dissolve. Let the mixture bubble for a couple of minutes before carefully adding the cream. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes or until the sauce is thick, sticky and glossy.

Serve with a couple of scoops of vanilla ice cream.

I use this sauce to make my coffee into a latte! I froth the milk and use a squeeze bottle to put the sauce on top in a design. Just as good as the $5 lattes from that national coffee chain!

Great, I love this recipe. I tried a Bon appetite one and it involved to many ingredients and it did not turn out like the picture. I am going to stick with this one. Its very easy and taste great with apple pie and ice cream. Thanks to the lady who said to use honey. Now I don't have to go to the store today and buy corn syrup.  :  

The only changes I made were I used light brown sugar, and instead of dark caro syrup, I used honey.  Had to use what was on hand!!  I'm so glad I did, because this tasted just like Werthers Originals hard candy...in a sauce!!  It was a great hit!

Great recipe!  I'm making it a second time tonight for my wife's family.  This is even more amazing with coffee cake in a bowl next to the ice cream, the sauce gets into the cake and makes it gooey and wonderful.  Just use a store mix coffee cake and bake it in the oven while you're serving dinner and it will be hot and ready for dessert!

So easy and so delicious. Sometimes I've had to use light corn syrup and it's just as wonderful.

I totally love this sauce!!  I made one tiny adjustment, which was to add 1/4 teaspoon or so of fleur de sel into the mix as it cooks, and it cuts through just enough to give it a salty/sweet effect.  Try it, and you'll even be digging into the cooled sauce with a spoon alone!!

My headline just about sums it all up. My mother really loves caramel/dulce de leche icecream topping and it isn't cheap to buy!! This tastes way better than anything available in a grocery store,and it is so easy a monkey could make it.Just be very careful not to accidentally splatter any of the hot/boiling mixture on you .It is the culinary equilivant of Napalm.

I have made this sauce on numerous occasions and it never fails me.  It is so easy to throw together and really makes your ice cream something special.  The ingredients are not far fetched; I typically have them all on hand to make whenever a craving strikes! 

I made this to go with Emeril's Apple Bread Pudding With Hard Cider Sauce - didn't fancy the hard cider sauce!  I don't like using corn syrup so I replaced it with pure maple syrup and only used about 1/3 cup of butter - you wouldn't have known I used less butter.  Went really nicely with the apple bread pudding.  Definifitely a big hit and one I will make many times over.
