My family and I loved this! I adapted it to be sugar-free by using a Pillsbury sugar-free yellow cake mix. I used a small amount of powdered sugar (regular) to lightly sweeten the whipped cream, however, along with vanilla. It was a hit, even to the kids! No one knew it was sugar-free until I told them!

I made this for a socially distanced group of 8 this past weekend.  Due to the pandemic, I wanted something that would be an individual dessert.  I used the recipe with the only change, I used 1 1/2 cups milk and 1/2 cup sour cream (didn't have more).  I put the trifle together in individual 9 ounce plastic cups and refrigerated as per recipe.  Just before serving, I added a dollop of whipped cream to the top.   I sweetened that portion of the whipped cream with just a little powdered sugar (2 T) and orange extract (1/4 tsp) to dollop on top.  Everyone loved it.  Great recipe.  Thank you so much.

This was incredibly easy to make. The star of the show was the pudding mixture. Who knew that sour cream could make such a difference!  This was my first time ever making a strawberry trifle and it was so good that both of my kids had seconds. I made the angel food cake from scratch and while that was being prepared, I sliced and marinated the strawberries in sugar/water. The trifle cream is not very sweet so I wanted to make sure the strawberries were super sweet. Now I know what I'll be making for potlucks and holidays!

This recipe is absolutely delicious!  I coated the strawberries in sugar just because the ones I bought were a bit tart.  Then I added a bit of sugar to the whipped cream mixture because my family likes their desserts on the sweet side.  Great recipe, will be making again.

Absolutely delicious! I chose to use pound cake (Sour Cream Pound Cake recipe, available on this site) and just love the dessert. I have not used orange peel very often  in the past but this gives the recipe a delightful twist! Go ahead and try it!

The preparation was so easy and resulted in a delicious dessert that looked fabulous for our family Christmas get together. I defrosted about a cup of frozen strawberries and sprinkled them with a tablespoon of sugar. I put this on the bottom just to add some sweetness and my daughter said that she really liked this addition. The top of the dessert was not white like in the picture so next time I would cover the top with canned whipped cream to give it a better finish.  This will be my go to dessert for a crowd from now on!

This is delicious I use a pound Cake and omit the sour cream .My son request this weekly it’s usually gone the same day

I made this dessert for a cookout we were invited to. I forgot to "whip" the cream, but it still turned out well. I got the bowl back empty! Next time ... I'll not make it at 1am because I can't sleep :)

The only changes I'm making is to use real vanilla pudding.  To go through all the trouble of making this is why I decided to do this.

Huge hit at my daughter and son's college graduation party. I made a middle layer with blueberries and blackberries, just for variety.  I had to hide the leftovers to keep them for myself!  Creamy, tangy (due to sour cream), but light and fruity.  I will certainly make this again.  Thank you for sharing.

WOW.. I am more of a chocolate person but this was very good. The sour cream and orange peel gave it a different flare then just cool whip, pudding and strawberry's.  I did use lady fingers and cool whip.  ( :

I recently made this for a church potluck.  I was a bit disappointed when the bowl was scraped clean before I had a chance to get some.  Definitely a winner!

I have made this recipe so many times it is the most requested recipe I make..  It is so easy and yet everyone thinks I spend hours making this.  If my family rated this it would be more than 5 stars!

An easy, light and refreshing dessert. The orange peel in the whipped cream/pudding mixture is delicious.
