Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease an 8-inch (20 cm) baking dish.

Step 2

In a large bowl, toss the blackberries with the white sugar and 1/4 cup of flour until well coated. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.

Step 3

In another bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cold butter pieces and use your hands or a pastry cutter to blend the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 4

Sprinkle the crumb mixture evenly over the top of the blackberries.

Step 5

Bake the crisp for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the blackberries are bubbling.

Step 6

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
