Step 1
Wash and de-stem all of the strawberries.
Step 2
Lightly poke holes in the strawberries with a fork.
Step 3
In a small bowl or cup, mix together the hot water and sugar. Once the sugar is dissolved, add the vanilla extract and mix well. Allow to cool.
Step 4
If you are using a vanilla bean, place it inside a mason jar, along the side and then fill the jar with the strawberries.
Step 5
Pour the vanilla mixture over the strawberries. Make sure that the strawberries are completely covered. Place the lid on the jar and chill in the fridge for a minimum of two hours.
Step 6
Remove from the mason jar and serve immediately!
