&lt;p&gt;A favorite of Crafthouse Cocktails co-founder Charles Joly, the Vesper is a martini variation that first appeared in the James Bond novel &lt;i&gt;Casino Royale&lt;/i&gt;. Although Bond famously orders the drink shaken, Joly prefers to stir his. (As a rule of thumb, you should stir a drink when it contains only spirits and no fruit juice.) &amp;ldquo;The result is lush, elegant and silky, and the delicate flavors are not washed out by overchilling or overdiluting,&amp;rdquo; says Joly, who also recommends making martinis in small portions, like this one, so they can be finished while still properly chilled.&lt;/p&gt;
