Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine egg, sugar, and molasses and beat well.

Mix in oil, and set aside.
Step 4
In another bowl, sift together flour, salt, soda, and spices.

Add to wet ingredients.
Step 6
Carefully add boiling water and mix thoroughly.
Step 7
Fill a greased or lined muffin pan two-thirds full.
Step 8
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
