Preheat oven to 180°C.Grease and line a 20cm round cake pan with Multix Bake. Pour a little lemon juice over the apple slices to stop them going brown.Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and spices.In an electric mixer whisk together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla and beat until fully combined. With the mixer at a very low speed, add the sifted flour, spice mix and milk, then beat until well combined. Scraping the bowl down at least once when you do this.Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smooth the top of the batter and arrange the apple slices in a decorative pattern on the top of the cake and brush with a little maple syrup.Bake in the oven covered with a sheet of Multix Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and cooked through, when tested with a metal skewer. Serve warm with a generous dollop of cream or yoghurt.
