Step 1

Mix together 2 cups of water with enough flour to make a pancake batter (about 2-3 cups).

Step 2

Add the yeast and sugar to the flour mixture.

Step 3

Slowly mix in the rest of the flour until the dough is no longer sticky to the touch.

Step 4

Knead the dough for 5 minutes. (I did the kneading with my dough hook in my mixer, but you could do it by hand.)

Step 5

While the dough is kneading mix together the warm water and baking soda in a medium-size shallow pan for your soda bath.

Step 6

Divide the dough into balls and then roll each ball into a pretzel shape or you can make pretzel bites. (I got about 10 medium size pretzels, if you do pretzel bites you will get 20+ depending on size.)

Step 7

Dip both sides of the pretzel in the soda bath and then put them in the air fryer. We found that putting parchment paper in the bottom of the air fryer made it easier to get the pretzels out.

Step 8

Make sure to leave plenty of space in the air fryer. I fit 2-3 pretzels at a time in my air fryer.

Step 9

Bake the pretzels for about 5-7 minutes at Make sure you watch the pretzels, it might take some trial and error to figure out the right temperature and timing for your air fryer.

Step 10

Flip the pretzels over and bake for another minute to give the backside a good finish.

Step 11

After taking the pretzels out of the air fryer brush them with butter and lightly sprinkle with salt.

Step 12

Continue baking until all the pretzels are done and enjoy!
