Step 1

Mix sugar, water, cinnamon sticks, and sliced ginger root in a small saucepan over medium heat. Heat until sugar is dissolved.

Step 2

Let cool completely. When cool, strain to remove ginger and cinnamon sticks.

Step 3

Pour cinnamon sugar into a shallow bowl or plate. Prepare martini glass by wetting the rim with apple cider and then dipping in cinnamon sugar.

Step 4

Add ice to martini shaker. Pour in cider and simple syrup. Shake for 10 to 15 seconds.

Step 5

Pour into prepared glass. Garnish with apple slice or cinnamon stick.
