Fire up your grill for this quick and healthy Asian barbecue chicken recipe.

Asian Barbecue Chicken

brown sugar

soy sauce

lime juice

red pepper

curry powder

garlic cloves,

(6-ounce) chicken thighs, skinned

Cooking spray

Lime wedges (optional)

onion

Combine first 6 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag; add chicken. Seal and marinate in refrigerator 4 hours, turning occasionally.


Remove chicken from bag, reserving marinade. Place marinade in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook 1 minute.


Place chicken on grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 20 minutes or until done, turning and basting frequently with the marinade. Garnish with lime wedges and green onion tops, if desired.


This was great! I followed the recipe, but I used chicken breast and a grill pan. I will definitely make a again!

My fiancé made this for me for the first time a few years ago because I asked him to make a lighter meal (I'm trying to eat healthier and he wanted to help me out). Wow! We both loved this so much. We've made this dish several times since. We keep a supply of curry powder in his pantry just for this.

The whole family loved it, my mother and my son both very picky couldn't stop eating it.  I added a little tomato paste, some rice vinegar, a more curry and it was very delicious although I only marinated it for an hour it was so so good!!!

This recipe is amazing.  Even my picky child will eat it and she doesn't like anything!!  I think everybody should try it at least once cause I was sure glad I did.  This recipe is definitly a keeper!

Based on the common ingredients and how vile the marinade smelled, I didn't expect much from this recipe, but it was really good. If I were to change anything, I might add just a teeny bit more curry. It's so subtle, it borders on the non existent. 

 Being the one person left in Texas who does NOT own a grill, I broiled the chicken thighs instead. I'm sure a grill would have brought out more of the caramelized flavor, but my way was much easier to clean up after!

My wife never cared for chicken thighs until now!  Outstanding and easy, great low cal. meal with salad and sticky rice.

Delicious!  Didn't change a thing except used chicken breasts instead.  Served with fried rice and Asian long beans with garlic sauce.

Good, quick weeknight meal that you can make with ingredients on hand.  Not amazing, but a good one to have in your "arsenal".

Very easy to make, grilled for about 20 minutes with the gas grill on low after heating to 400 degrees.  Due to some poor planning I ended up having to marinate 24 hours instead of 4 hours but I'm sure only made it that much better.

I used a regular grill (not a grill pan) and the grill smoked so much and the chicken burnt a little. So for sure use the grill pan. However, the flavor was good, but nothing too special (though the curry was nice). I might not try this one again.

This is one of my absolute favorite Cooking Light recipes ever...and it could not be any easier!  I used boneless skinless chicken breasts and marinated it all day. Threw it on the grill and served it with a cold asian noodle salad, which I also made earlier in the day. I've had the recipe hanging around for a while but didn't think it sounded very exciting.  How glad I am that I finally gave it a try!  Delicious!  Make extra as you will want to make sure you have some leftover in the fridge.  Great on top of a salad too!

My son made this recipe before going to college and I was heart broken because I lost it.  Thank God I found it on myrecipes' site because I'M IN HEAVEN. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM GOOD! The longer you marinate the better. :-)

I made this exactly as written... grilled it inside on the grill pan. Basting is key to get that good caramelized glaze. The flavor is phenomenal...that little hint of curry is just perfect. My husband declared it the best ever. Served it up with a little sesame stir fried baby bok choy. Definitely a keeper!

This was soo good. I used chicken breast and left it overnight. The boys even ate this as leftovers and still loved it. Served with grilled asparagus and steamed rice.

Needs no adjustments at all.   Perfectly balanced.  Enhanced the chicken without overwhelming its taste.  Served with basmati rice enhanced with 1/2 cup light coconut milk &amp; hoisin glazed baby carrots.  A delightful and easy dinner. The leftovers are delicious too.  This is truly a winner.

Made this dish tonight and was wonderful!!!!!!!..made some minor adjustments....had only 4 small chicken breast so i reduced the recipe by half but overall 5+ stars!!!!!!

Sorry to deviate, but I was not impressed with this marinade.  It smelled delicious when I put it on the grill, but the taste was very bland.  I let the chicken soak for 24 hours so I was surprised it wasn't more flavorful.  I much prefer the "chicken sate with peanut sauce" recipe from July 2005.  It has similar ingredients for the marinade, but a much better result (in my opinion).

This is awesome!!!!  I made this a week ago and my husband is still talking about it.  I did'nt change a thing - The marinade amount was just right and I cooked it for 20 mins. as the recipe called for.  I will definately make this again.

Very glad I made this recipe!  Extremely easy and very good!  I followed the recipe as directed except I made it with 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, 2 skinless thighs, and 3 skinless drumsticks-no need to increase ingredient amounts with this amount of chicken pieces.  It did take around 35 minutes for the bone-in pieces to finish cooking.  Not a big fan of curry powder, but the amount blended in so well that you wouldn't even know it was there.

This is an absolute staple in our house.  My husband and two kids LOVE it!!  So does everyone I serve it to.  We usually eat ours with pot stickers and steamed sugar snap peas with lemon and butter.  Yum!!

This was delicious. I marinated this overnight and grilled this on my stovetop grill pan. Moist, juicy and very flavorful. The curry added a really interesting bite to the asian marinade. I'll definitely make this again very soon. I served this with a spicy asian green bean saute and brown short grain rice. I didn't use exact measurements and I used brown sugar splenda instead of regular brown sugar.

These were fabulous!! I did make a couple slight modifications, which I will repeat next time.  The marinade is too too good to not double.  I quadrupled it, and i was still wishing there was a bit more to sop up.  Also, used a whole head of garlic instead of 3 cloves.  Excellent!!  A definite keeper!

Made this last night using Cornish Game Hen.  My DH, who is not much of a "sauce" guy, ratedt the marinade 5 stars, and said "Let's have this again".  It's a keeper.  Served it with basmati rice and fresh sliced tomatoes from our garden.

I've used this recipe ever since it was first published in 2002 and it is outstanding! If you use boneless chicken thighs, you can make grilled chicken sandwiches that are out of this world--try grilling a piece of pineapple to top them. I also marinate boneless breasts, grill them, and slice them thin to top salads. Or mix thin slices of leftover chicken into any asian noodle salad. Yumm!

This has become my go-to marinade.  I add a bit more garlic, just because we are garlic fanatics, but other than that I make it as directed.  Oftentimes I'll double the recipe, and will freeze half the thighs in the marinade in a ziplock bag.  That way I can just take them out in the morning and throw them on the grill after work!

The flavors of this chicken are outstanding.  My husband loved it.  I marinated it in the morning before work and then grilled them up at dinner.  We will make this alot!

My family loved this dish and my husband isn't always easy to please!  Even after 30 minutes of marinating, it had considerable flavor.  Would like to try marinating for longer, but won't stress if I don't remember ahead of time.  We used boneless skinless chicken thighs which reduced the cook time by about half.  I did not alter the recipe.  I will add this to my monthly rotation.

This was quick and easy...also is a great marinade for salmon for the grill. Definitely will make again!
