Grease and line a 20x30cm cake pan.
Step 2
Place semolina, baking powder, bicarbonate soda, sugar and butter in a large bowl. Mix with fingertips until well combined.

Add yoghurt and mix with a wooden spoon until a firm batter forms. Spoon batter into cake pan and smooth surface. Make 5cm square marks in surface using string. Press 1 almond into centre of each. Cover pan. Set aside for 3 hours in the fridge.
Step 4
Meanwhile, make the syrup. Stir sugar, water and lemon juice together in a small saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add rose and orange essence. Set aside to cool.
Step 5
Once batter has sat for 3 hours, preheat oven to 200°C. Bake cake for 20 minutes or until golden. Pour over cooled syrup.
Step 6
Set aside to allow the syrup to absorb. Cut nammoura into squares. Serve.
