Step 1
In a large bowl combine all of the ingredients together. Make sure to not overwork the meat just mix enough for it to all be combined.
Step 2
Form patties that are slightly smaller than a hamburger bun and allow them to sit at room temperature for about 25-30 minutes.
Step 3
Melt butter over medium-high heat in a cast-iron pan. Cook patties on each side for about 3 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F. Add cheese and cook for 1 minute until melted.
Step 4
Allow the burgers to rest for 5 minutes.
Step 5
Heat oil and butter over medium-high heat, add onions, and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 6
Reduce heat to low and cover for 20 minutes.
Step 7
Combine all of the ingredients together in a medium-size bowl.
