Step 1
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Step 2
Crumble sausage with 2 tablespoons of butter into a 10-inch (mine is actually 10.25") cast-iron skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until completely browned and thoroughly cooked.
Step 3
Stir in the flour, salt and the pepper until combined, continue to cook for a minute or so, continuing to stir so it doesn’t stick.
Step 4
Gradually add the milk, pouring with one hand and stirring with the other. Allow the gravy mixture to come to a boil, stirring constantly. Turn down to a simmer and allow to cook another 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened then turn off while making the biscuits.
Step 5
In a medium bowl, mix together the Bisquick and the milk until a soft dough forms. Drop by spoonfuls onto the top of the gravy. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 6
Melt the remaining tablespoon of butter in the microwave. Brush the tops of the biscuits with the melted butter. Serve immediately.
