Step 1
Pat the fish dry with paper towels. In a bowl, stir together the paprika, oregano, garlic powder, a big pinch of salt and pepper and the pepper flakes.
Step 2
Sprinkle the seasoning on both sides of the fish. Pat it into the fish.
Step 3
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the fish. Cook until it is blackened and seared, then flip and cook on the other side. Cook until the fish is opaque and cooked through, another 5 minutes or so. You can cover the skillet towards the end to help it cook quickly too.
Step 4
To serve the fish, add a bit of the tartar sauce on the bottom of the bun. Add a handful of shredded lettuce. Top with the fish and more tartar sauce if you’d like. Top with the bun. Serve!
Step 5
In a small blender or food processor, combine the mayo, half the dill pickles, relish, lemon juice, dill, avocado and a big pinch of salt and pepper. Blend until the avocado is smooth and the mixture is combined. Remove and stir in the remaining diced pickles with a spoon.
Step 6
Taste and season more if needed. More salt, pepper or even pickles can be added!
