Gather all ingredients together.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Brush both sides of the bread slices with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Arrange them on a large baking sheet and toast in the oven until golden brown, about 5 to 10 minutes, turning them over halfway through.

Step 4

While the bread is toasting, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, and minced garlic in a bowl.

Add the balsamic vinegar, 2 teaspoons of extra-virgin olive oil, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper to the tomato mixture. Stir everything together until well combined.
