Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat

Add the onion and garlic and saute until the onions are translucent, about 5 minutes

Step 4

Add the ground turkey or beef and the remaining seasonings and cook, breaking up the meat and stirring occasionally, until the meat is well browned

Step 5

On a rimmed baking sheet, cover the bottom with a layer of tortilla chips

Step 6

Sprinkle the meat mixture over the tortilla chips and top with any of the suggested toppings, except the avocado, lime wedges and salsa

Step 7

Bake until the cheese has melted, 5 to 8 minutes

Step 8

If using avocado and/or lime wedges, place them on the nachos

Step 9

Serve with salsa, if you like
