Step 1
MIX IT - In a large bowl, combine beef, onion, spices, and worchestershire sauce.
Step 2
- Form into 4 evenly sized patties and store in the fridge while you make the caramelized onions.
Step 3
- Heat a high rimmed skillet over medium high heat. Add ghee. Once it starts simmering, add the onion. Stir frequently to prevent burning. After the onions have softened (about 3-5 minutes), add the sugar. The sugar helps the caramelization process move faster. Keep sauteeing until all onions are a dark brown color. (about an additional 7-10 minutes). Discard to a paper towel lined plate and set aside.
Step 4
- In the same skillet, add the burger patties. Cook about 2 minutes per side. About 1 minute before the burgers finish cooking, add the cheese (if using).
Step 5
- To get super yummy gooey cheese, put the lid on the skillet for 1 minute. And be prepared to be WOWED by the steamed provolone cheese 🤤
Step 6
Build your perfect french onion style burger. To the bun add the burger, onions, and arugula. So simple yet so good!
