We certainly did enjoy this chicken recipe.  Delicious!!  I used 2 bone-in breasts and 4 thighs, skin removed, chicken browned. Used a temp probe due to the breasts being very thick, thighs finished baking sooner.

Added 3 more tablespoons of brown sugar to account for the amount of vinegar. Next time I'll cut the amount of vinegar in half and use one additional tablespoon of brown sugar. It was good. The chicken thighs stayed moist and tender.

Like another reviewer stated,  I also used less vinegar as family doesn't care for vinegary sauce.  Easy to make.   I did add some additional BBQ sauce to the original mixture since family likes their BBQ sauce KC style.

NOTE:    I cooked sauce  in  a   medium  saucepan-the same  pan for cooking the onion!  I used 5 boneless skinless chicken breasts.  I did not brown the chicken-I just baked it with the sauce.  I used 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil to cook onion in a medium saucepan, and  used 1 tsp. Dijon mustard instead of ground mustard.  I found that I needed to bake chicken 70 minutes to insure that it would be thoroughly finished. I used Perdue boneless skinless chicken breasts!  This recipe definitely is a keeper!  delowenstein

Wow!  This was really good!!  I used four boneless, skinless chicken breasts and the chicken was moist and tender.  The barbecue sauce is terrific!  This one went right into my recipe box.   Definitely a keeper!

I put the chicken under the broiler after cooking it. Like it alittle crispy. Very good tho!

Sauce was excellent.  Made double amount of sauce and cooked all on top of stove in a dutch oven for 25 min.

Move over Memphis! This sauce is king.   To be honest I was a tad hesitant because my family is not wild for vinegar sauces, so I didn't use the full amount.  Everything else was done according to the recipe- sauce-wise.  Since the only chicken I had in the house were chicken tenders, I used them. Wonderfully easy and so delicious!! Everyone loved the sauce and will probably use it on some pulled pork we have as well. Great recipe and one we will make again and again!

We loved it.  My mom makes a similar one and I really liked how the cooked onions tasted in it.  I may try to cover the chicken in the oven, at least for part of the time, as it got rather dried out, though!  But we all liked it!

This has been a favorite TOH recipe since it was first published. My go to for oven bbq chicken. I cut back on the vinegar taste for my family but the sauce is excellent.

Hubby and I both enjoyed this Sassy speaking sauce. Its got just the right amount of tang and sharpness to it. Its so good that you really can think outside of the box. Ribs would be perfect . Down size the recipe and it would be a nice addition to a meat loaf mixture. ON top as a sauce or added to the meat mixture for that nice barbecue taste.JanieTaste of Home volunteer Field Editor

This is so good!  I used 8 chix thighs and doubled the sauce, using one whole chopped onion...which made too much sauce.  Next time, I will make 1-1/2 the sauce recipe and use a small onion.  (you just can't use too much onion!)  I added some hot sauce and liquid smoke. It baked to 170 degrees in 35 min.   After baking, I thickened the sauce somewhat with cornstarch to a gravy like consistency.  Was wonderful with rice and fresh corn.  fhquilting
