I take this dessert to work for Friday pick-me-ups. It's one of my favorite yellow cake bar recipes. I love to share them because they're so easy to eat, easy to make and easy on the wallet. &mdash;Amy Rose, Ballwin, Missouri

Easy Cake Mix Bars

yellow cake mix (regular size)

egg, room temperature

2% milk

canola oil

white baking chips

jimmies

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, egg, milk and oil (mixture will be thick). Stir in baking chips and jimmies. Spread into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan.

Bake 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.

Tastes great exactly as stated in recipe (with 15 oz cake mix and 9x13 glass pan) but I imagine it would be great will different flavors of cake and mix-ins! Will definitely experiment in the future!

I was in need of a quick and easy dessert and found this! The cake mix makes it so simple to prepare. If you choose to, you can vary the cake mix and chips/jimmies. I used a bag of Butterfinger chips and omitted the jimmies this time. Family loved them. Possibilities are endless!

These were quick and easy to make, and everybody loved them! I was in a pinch to make something quick to take to a potluck, and these were perfect!

This is my favorite quick dessert recipe! Simple ingredients I always have on hand. I have substituted buttermilk and also fat free half and half, perfect, richer touch!  My favorite is the yellow cake mix with chocolate chips and the red velvet with white chips. I use the 9x13 glass pan. My family loves these !

Made these bars because I had lots of cake mixes given to me. They were a hit! The beauty part of this is you can use any flavor cake mix and stir in any variety of chips to suit. I made carrot cake/walnut, yellow/dark chocolate, M&M, lemon/ white choc. chip and our favorite yellow with butterscotch chips and walnuts. Gonna try strawberry/white choc chip soon and yellow with p.b. chips and chopped peanuts. Used 9x13 and the larger cake mixes (18oz ) came out more cake like and the smaller (15oz) came out more dense. Great recipe and simple!

I needed a bar that would be easy to eat if the weather was hot--not gooey or messy. I used chocolate cake mix and sea salt caramel chips. I think they actually got better over the three days we were together with family. I might consider adding more chips next time, but no one complained that there were too few in these!! I didn't have to refrigerate them but I did keep them out of the sun.

This is my go to for a quick dessert, because I usually have these common ingredients on hand, and the bars are always a hit. I've made numerous combos. The one that's gotten the most compliments is Red Velvet cake with white chocolate chips. When making that combo though I don't add the jimmies. I did the first time and I didn't like the way they looked in such a dark cake.

D., jimmies are sprinkles, like you would put on ice cream or find in confetti cake mix.

I have found it is just as easy to buy the Funfetti cake mixes and use those rather than adding jimmies to a plain mix. I made a pretty one with the Stars and Stripes mix out at 4th of July. One complaint with this recipe is that it's hard to spread batter in pan--not so much fault of the recipe--I believe it is because of the now-reduced cake mix sizes. They used to be 18 oz.; now a regular mix is 15.25 ounces. Does make a difference! Anyways, had to use floured hands/spoon to spread out and make work!

There is not enough batter to fill a 15x10 pan so I used a 9x13 and baked for 22 minutes.  FANTASTIC and will definitely make again.  I am going to try cinnamon cake mix with cinnamon chips.  This recipe is a keeper.

Used red velvet cake mix and white chocolate chips.  As others suggested, used a 13x9 pan. I thought the thickness was appropriate, although, had issues with crumbling after cooling and cutting. Perhaps it's because I live at high altitude? I baked as directed, did not adjust. Interesting and easy recipe with loads of variation options. Would try again.

What an easy and delicious dessert. There was plenty of batter to fill the 15x10x1 pan and it was easy to spread. I didn't feel it was thick at all. I made these just as the recipe states. We actually liked the fact they are thin, any thicker and I think they would be too sweet. Perfect for a potluck gathering. This would look great for the holidays with red and green jimmies.

I was so excited when I found this recipe! I followed the directions... I'm now going on minute 35 and I still have a mushy center. Kind of a pain, so I hope they're good.

I baked in a stoneware jellyroll pan when completely cool bottom was a bit hard. Still very good. I'll try glass next time

I don't know what I did wrong, but my bars were more fluffy like cake.  They still tasted good, though.

I just made these. They are so dry and crumbly.

Family thought it was rather plain, just cake with chips and too sweet.  Great idea though.

Nice and easy to make.  I substituted chocolate chips for the white chips and jimmies.  They came out great!

Quick and easy. This is a good recipe to let little kids help with. My 3 year old added the ingredients and helped mix.

Absolutely delicious and so easy!  I do use a 9X13 pan instead so they're a little thicker.  I've made these 4 times already!
