Step 1

Cut holes in the bread using a jar or a cookie cutter.

Step 2

Place the butter in a large skillet.

Step 3

Heat the skillet over medium heat until the butter melts and begins to sizzle.

Place the bread slices on the skillet. You can also place the cut-out pieces in the skillet if there is room and you want to use the pieces for dunking.

Step 5

Break 1 egg into each of the holes in the bread.

Step 6

Cook until the egg reaches desired doneness, turning as needed, about 3-5 minutes.

Step 7

Sprinkle the egg with salt and pepper.

Step 8

Plate and serve.
