Ingredients: 2 cups vanilla almond, coconut or soy milk; 1/2 cup whole oats; 1 1/4 cups fresh, frozen or canned peaches, or mango cubes; 1 cup ice cubes; 1 cup baby spinach, loosely packed; 1 tablespoon honey; 1 teaspoon vanilla extract; 2 bananas

Melissa d'Arabian's Green Morning Smoothie

Place the milk and oats in a blender and blend for 15 seconds on high. Add the peaches, ice, spinach, honey, vanilla and bananas and blend until very smooth, 45 seconds. Serve in glasses.

I tried this recipe because I had everything on hand... came out delicious.. the amount listed is for a blender I tried it with ninja bullet and it was to the max without spinach yet. 

This was so much better than I thought it would be as I assumed it would taste like spinach but instead tasted like fruit and I enjoyed it knowing that it was healthy as well.

Very good! I used frozen pineapple chunks and unsweetened almond milk. It was too sweet for me though. I will definitely make this again without the honey and the vanilla.

First of all, this recipe completely fills a 6 cup blender and it is veryyy filling, so cutting it in half would be my suggestion if you’re making it for any less than 4 people<br />I used frozen peaches for mine, as the recipe gives you the option of mangos or peaches. It was okay, but not my favorite. 

This is in response to the Picky Eaters article this recipe was posted in.<br />Are you kidding me Melissa d'Arabian? You write an article for Food Network entitled "Picky Eaters Project" and the first recipe you post is a green-colored, grainy looking, "smoothie" which has oats and spinach in it - a texture which would be challenging for even non-picky-eaters!!! And then for the second recipe you post "Kale chips"???  I struggle daily to get my autistic son to eat anything other than mac n' cheese, hot dogs and baked beans.  We've been to nutritionists, dietitians, and a number of other specialists to help him get past the same thing a majority of other picky eaters have issues with - familiarity, texture, smell, and color.    I have no argument with the health of your recipes - but the title is downright offending to people who have seriously picky eaters.  Please rename the article "Healthy Eaters Project".

<div>PICKY teenagers saw the fruit on the cutting board but when they walked back through the kitchen, the smoothie was green. They were confused but still wanted to try it. I was told they could taste bananas and nuts (I used Fiber One cereal in place of oats). It wasn't until they were done that I told them it was green because of the spinach. One day I made it with cantaloupe b/c we were out of peaches, and the teenager that hates cantaloupe loved it the same.</div><div><br /></div><div>Now the kids want this in the morning before school and are eating spinach on their pizza and in lasagna.</div><div><br /></div><div>I'm so excited to have found a recipe that is delicious and healthy -- and the kids love it in spite of knowing what's in it.  Tomorrow is strawberry-banana day! </div>

This is really good, and since my 4 year old daughter saw the episode in which Melissa made it's, she's wanted it ever since. Made it today using rolled quick oats (It's all I had), and leftover papaya (again what I had), and one regular and one frozen banana (no ice). We just found my daughters favorite smoothie. Thanks for the recipe!
