Step 1
Preheat the grill over high heat (approximately 500 degrees F). You want the grill to be hot to get a good sear on the steaks.
Step 2
Make sure that the flank steak is dry and are at room temperature.
Step 3
Combine the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper together in a small bowl. Then season the steaks with the seasoning mixture on both sides of the steak.
Step 4
Rub the grill grates with the oil.
Step 5
Place the flank steak on the grill. Cover and cook for approximately 5 minutes.
Step 6
Then use tongs to gently lift and flip the steak.
Step 7
Cover and cook the other side for approximately 4-5 more minutes.
Step 8
Then reduce the temperature on the grill to medium heat. Cook the steak until they are done to your preference. Use an instant read meat thermometer to check the steak temperature. The recipe notes have the internal temperature for each steak preference listed.
Step 9
Let the steak rest for 10 minutes and then it is ready to slice, serve and enjoy!
