Making candy is one of my favorite things to do during the holidays. This sweet white fudge is as easy to put together as it is beautiful to serve. &mdash;Jennifer Short, Omaha, Nebraska

Gumdrop Fudge

white candy coating, coarsely chopped

(14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk

salt

vanilla extract

gumdrops

Line a 9-in. square pan with foil; set aside. In a heavy saucepan, combine the candy coating, milk and salt. Cook and stir over low heat until candy coating is melted. Remove from the heat; stir in vanilla and gumdrops.

Spread into prepared pan. Cover and refrigerate until firm. Using foil, remove fudge from the pan; cut into 1-in. squares. Store in an airtight container at room temperature.

As others have said, this candy is very pretty and very sweet.  I really liked the white "fudge" part of the candy and the fruity gum drops I used gave good flavor.  However, the sugar on the outside of the gum drops did not dissolve, giving each bite a little sugary gritty crunch.  Didn't care for that.  I will definitely play with this recipe, though -- Maybe nuts instead of gum drops.  Or maybe nuts with a tiny bit of caramel swirled through.  Think it needs something salty added instead of sweet.

I just made this recipe a few days ago.  It was extremely simple to make and it makes a lot!  I agree, it is sweet, however I'm not planning on eating it by the handful! Hahahaha  It has a great flavor, very pretty and the kids LOVE it!  I had a hard time finding anything except spice drops this time of year so I also used Fruit Slices and warmed my knife is some warm water before cutting to make them easier to cut and they also didn't stick to the knife that way. A very pretty fudge. I prefer chocolate fudge myself, but I love how pretty a gift this makes. When I sliced the gum drops (use the "spice ones for better flavor", I placed the sliced pieces in a bowl of white sugar to keep them from sticking to one another. Easy to do and so nice for gift giving!

I made this recently and its delicious.  I see a few folks said its too sweet, but I'm not sure I've ever had fudge that wasn't extremely sweet.  I don't see gumdrops regularly in local stores, so I bought the fruit slices and cut them up with scissors without a problem.  I cut them and coat the cut edges with a bit of sugar to keep them from sticking together.  I used the white candy melts (Wilton).  Other than using the fruit slices, I made the candy as directed and it turned out perfect!  Thanks for sharing this version of fudge.

This was one of the easiest and most delicious candy recipes I have ever tried. I took some to work and some to my family's Christmas gathering and everyone wanted the recipe! I used 2 bags of vanilla chips instead of the candy coating, which worked out just fine. I will definitely make this recipe again!

My neices and nephews LOVED this fudge.  It's very rich and creamy.  I used spiced gumdrops which gave the fudge more flavor than regular gumdrops.  The recipe was SO simple but it does not make 81 one inch pieces.  It makes more like 40 one inch pieces.  Wonderful recipe.

This recipe is very easy to make and very delicious...It makes a good addition to holiday gift baskets...Be sure when making you cut small pieces because it is very rich...

Beautiful candy, however,choose sugared fruit slices instead of spice gumdrops.

This  candy was so easy to make and very pretty on the goodie platter.  It tastes great, too.

Tried this recipe twice with no success. The fudge never seems to set. What am I doing wrong. I followed the recipe instructions.

Great recipe! Couldn't find regular flavored gumdrops (don't like the spice ones), but did find the large-sized gumdrops.  I stuck them in the freezer for 1/2 hour and that made it easier to cut through.  My son-in-law loves white chocolate, couldn't stop munching on these!!  So festive-looking, served in a pretty candy bowl!

Very good and so pretty. I used the jumbo gumdrops by Zachary at Walmart. Putting them in freezer for 20 minutes made cutting them up much easier.

Consider using part white chocolate squares. The candy coating is mostly tasteless, hence the low rating.

This was way too sweet for my tastes, not what i expected in a fudge.  It is very easy to make, but wasn't a big hit with my family.

I got rave reviews when I made this. I want to use mini gummy bears next time. To avoid the sugar not dissolving from the gumdrops I was thinking too, that the Dots candy could be used or gummy candies. This was a fun fudge, for the colors and flavors

I made this last Christmas and will make it again this year. Was a big hit! This is beautiful, festive, fun. Yes, it's sweet - have one. Use scissors to cut the gumdrops. I melted the white candy coating in the mircrowave. Quick easy delicious - was a big hit.
