Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2

Cook the macaroni according to package directions until it is al dente (about 6-8 minutes).

Drain the pasta and run cold water over it. Set aside.

Step 4

Brown the ground beef and sausage in a skillet over medium heat until it is completely browned and crumbly. Drain off any fat.

Step 5

Add the onion, pepper, garlic, oregano, worcestershire sauce, sugar, pepper flakes and garlic salt. Cook and stir for an additional 5 minutes to soften the vegetables.

Step 6

Add the diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. Stir well.

Step 7

Spray a large casserole dish (9x13 size or slightly larger) with cooking spray.

Step 8

Spread the pasta over the bottom of the prepared pan.

Step 9

Sprinkle the Italian cheese blend over the pasta.

Step 10

Spread the meat sauce over the pasta and cheese.

Step 11

Cover the pan with foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Step 12

Remove the foil, sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the casserole and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, uncovered, until the cheese is melted.
