Place all the ingredients, except the xanthan gum, in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk together.
Step 2
Bring to the boil and reduce by about ¼ of a cup (keep a close eye on the sauce as it is prone to boiling over).
Step 3
Sprinkle the xanthan gum over and whisk in.
Step 4
Continue to boil until the sauce has thickened, then remove from the heat.
Step 5
Stir through the sesame seeds, if using.
Step 6
Serve the hot sauce over chicken, fish, steak or vegetables or allow to cool to room temperature before storing in an airtight container in the fridge.
