Export 7 ingredients for grocery delivery
Step 1
Preheat oven to 180C (170C fan forced).
Step 2
Grease cake tin well and cover bottom with baking paper or greaseproof paper.
Step 3
Place sugar, water, mixed fruit and butter into a saucepan and bring to the boil.
Step 4
Allow to boil, slightly, for 3 minutes.
Step 5
Remove from stove and allow to cool.
Step 6
Sift flour, mixed spice, bicarbonate of soda and salt.
Step 7
Add to fruit mixture.
Step 8
Make a well in the middle of mixture.
Step 9
Add egg and stewed apple. Combine well.
Step 10
Pour mixture into cake tin and place on middle shelf of oven.
Step 11
Bake for 1 to 1¼ hours. Test cake with skewer to ensure it is cooked through.
Step 12
Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before moving from cake tin, onto a cake rack.
