Export 7 ingredients for grocery delivery
Step 1
Decide whether you are making the classic or whole wheat version; collect ingredients.
Step 2
Warm water in the microwave or over the stovetop to about 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 3
In a large bowl, add the warm water and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Sprinkle yeast over water and gently stir together. Let sit for 10-20 minutes or until the yeast “blooms” and forms a puffy layer on the surface (if you do not see bubbles, your water may have been too hot or your yeast is no longer active).
Step 4
Add salt and olive oil, and flaxseed then stir together. Add flour(s), one cup at a time, until the dough comes together into a ball.
Step 5
Knead dough until smooth (about 8-10 minutes).
Step 6
Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and set in a warm place to proof for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Step 7
Prepare a baking sheet with olive oil and parchment paper (if desired). Preheat the oven to 475 degrees Fahrenheit.
Step 8
Once dough has proofed, stretch the dough using the back of your hands/knuckles to your desired shape and size. Transfer to baking sheet.
Step 9
Top the dough with sauce and toppings of your choice then bake on the center rack for 10-15 minutes or until the crust starts to brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Slice and serve warm!
