Step 1
Combine the sugar, tea and 1.5L (6 cups) water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil, remove from heat, then stand for 10 minutes to infuse.
Step 2
Discard tea bags and return pan to medium heat. Bring to the boil, add pears, then cover with baking paper. Cook for 15-20 minutes until tender.
Step 3
Remove pears from pan. Cook liquid for a further 10 minutes or until a syrup.
Step 4
Serve pears with syrup and ice cream.
