Step 1
In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and no longer pink. Break it up into crumbles as it cooks.

Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage. Stir well until the sausage is coated with the flour.

Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens.
Step 4
Season with salt, black pepper, and freshly grated nutmeg. Stir well.

Serve the gravy hot over biscuits or toast.
