Step 1
Preheat the oven to 425 F. Place a 9- or 10-inch cast-iron skillet in the oven while it heats up.

In a medium bowl combine the sliced apples with the brown sugar and cinnamon, gently mixing until the slices are coated.

In a large bowl whisk together the flour and salt and set aside.

Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a microwave-safe bowl and let it cool slightly.

Whisk together the eggs, milk, honey, vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter in a large measuring cup.

Add the wet ingredients into the bowl with the flour and salt and whisk until combined.
Step 7
Carefully remove the cast-iron skillet from the oven.

Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter to the bottom of the pan and let it melt to coat the pan.
Step 9
Arrange the apple slices over the melted butter.
Step 10
Pour the batter over the apple slices.
Step 11
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until it becomes puffy and golden.
Step 12
Serve hot with syrup or confectioners' sugar.
