Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.  Prepare the crust and bake for 10 minutes.  Remove from oven and let cool slightly.

Step 2

Prepare the frangipane by beating sugar and butter until light and pale in colour.  Stir in almond flour, extracts and eggs.  Stir until completely combined.  Do not overmix.  Pour into crust.

Step 3

Place sliced apples over crust (or apple swirls - see post for "how to") and press slightly into frangipane layer

Step 4

Bake in the oven for 45 minutes or until center is set.

Step 5

Dust with powdered sugar (optional)
